The Serge Mouille 5 Still Arm Spider Ceiling Lamp, first designed in the 1950s, stands as a prime example of modern lighting innovation. Its dynamic, insect-like design was a direct response to the more cumbersome lighting fixtures of the era. With five arms of varying lengths (27", 33", 37", 37", and 43") and independently rotating shades, the lamp offers incredible flexibility. This ability to direct light where needed, along with its visually stunning presence, makes the Serge Mouille lamp a versatile and striking addition to any room, adding both function and aesthetic appeal.
Crafted by hand in France, the Serge Mouille 5 Still Arm Spider Ceiling Lamp stays true to the designer's original vision. Using the same forms, molds, and techniques created nearly 70 years ago, each lamp is a unique work of art. The brass joints connecting the arms allow for smooth rotation, enabling complete control over the light’s direction. With only 600 pieces produced annually, owning a Serge Mouille lamp is a rare privilege, ensuring that each fixture is a collectible and exclusive piece of craftsmanship.
Serge Mouille’s legacy in lighting design continues to influence the industry with his innovative, minimalist approach. His designs, including the Serge Mouille lamp collection, are celebrated for blending functional lighting with sculptural elegance. Known for transforming lighting into a work of art, the Serge Mouille lamp has remained highly regarded in the design world. His pieces, like the 5 Still Arm Spider Ceiling Lamp, still evoke admiration today, embodying mid-century modern ideals while continuing to captivate collectors and design enthusiasts with their timeless beauty and craftsmanship.

Brand
Serge Mouille
Serge Mouille (FRANCE 1922-1988) is most famous for his modern lighting fixtures characterized by matte black parts with beautiful brass connectors. Serge Mouille's lighting fixtures are coveted amongst the modern interior mindset and have been revered for their sophisticated yet minimal design. Today Serge Mouille's designs are still produced in a factory in France using Serge's original designs and tooling and each piece is made to Serge's exact specifications.
Serge Mouille originally studied silversmithing and metallurgy at the School of Applied Arts in Paris after being admitted at the age of 13. He had great success as a silversmith and began teaching by the age of 25. It was not until he was 31 that Serge Mouille introduced his first lighting fixture. His lamps were inspired by insect-like minimalism and were an intentional departure from the more complicated lamps of his time. Mouille's fixtures were first shown in a gallery in 1956 along designs by Charlotte Perriand, Isamu Noguchi and Jean Prouvé. His lighting fixtures are a blend of function and art that many have come to appreciate throughout the years.
